Spring has (finally) sprung! The sun is staying out longer, the layers are becoming less and less, and signs of greenery are starting to pop through. The world is becoming anew again. It is time for us to come out of winter mode and get ready to spring into spring.
How can you prepare for this next season both mentally and physically?
Clear out the clutter. The start of spring is a great time to go through your belongings and take the time to asses their use and importance to you. Head into your closet and before you pack up your winter clothes take inventory of what you actually wore and what you didn’t. Any clothes you found you didn’t wear this past winter pack them up and donate them.
Eat with the season. Each new season brings with it a variety of new produce. Eating seasonal fruits and vegetables is also great for your health as they tend to retain more nutrients than produce that is not in season. As a bonus, eating and buying produce that is in season is often cheaper.
Get outside. Gone are the excuses that it’s too cold or dark out. Spring is the perfect time to get back outside and back into nature. There are so many benefits of spending time outdoors, including: improved blood pressure, decreased stress and a boost in physical and mental health.
Take some time to reflect. Spring is the start of a new chapter that is full of rebirth and new energy. Take some time to think and reflect on what no longer is serving you and let it go. This is a season for you to leave behind the old and move forward into the new.
Move your body. Winter can leave many of us in hibernation mode and spring is the perfect time to get out of that and to move our bodies. Not only does physical movement and exercise leave us feeling good physically it also leaves us feeling fresh and motivated mentally. Try incorporating a vinyasa style yoga to break a little sweat and to get your blood pumping. Along with a vinyasa style yoga to increase physical and mental energy, try some breathing exercises that are known to provide an energy boost.
Happy Spring!
