So long, summer. Hello, fall.

The transition to the shorter, busier days of fall can be a challenge.

At Innergy Corporate Yoga, we think of the new season as a fresh start to revisit healthy habits.

To help you ease into the change, we’re revisiting three of our favorite fall wellness tips to get you ready for the colder months and keep your mental and physical health in check!

1. Get Ready For Daylight Savings Time

For most of us, fall is when we say goodbye to Daylight Savings Time and turn the clocks back an hour.

Prepare yourself for earlier evenings and shorter days by going to bed earlier before you have to change the clocks. Fewer hours of light can disrupt your circadian rhythm, but you can get your body used to it by planning for an earlier bedtime.

Top tip: Go to bed earlier when you can, especially the week before the clocks change. Longer periods of darkness = longer periods of sleep!

2. Consume In-Season Veggies

Fall is a great time to enjoy in-season, healthy vegetables.

Fall vegetables include: Beets, brussels sprouts, cabbage, eggplant, squash and pumpkin.

Nourish your body with some healthy comfort food made from in-season veggies that will fill you up and keep you feeling warm and cozy.

Top tip: Check out our pumpkin lasagna recipe in featured in our October newsletter! 3. Stay active!

Early sundown and cooler temps make it easy to hibernate inside all season, but don’t forget to enjoy yourself. Staying busy can also help avoid “cabin fever” and the blues that some folks struggle with during shorter days.

It can be easy to just sit around all the time, but it’s important to get in some movement throughout the day.

Top tip: Look for local fall-related activities to enjoy with family, friends and colleagues. Rake the leaves outside. Shovel snow if you live somewhere with heavy snowfall. At the workplace, take your breaks together and get outside for a walk in the crisp fall air or consider starting a yoga program to encourage colleagues to stay active together.
