When the work emails are piling up and it seems like the phone won’t stop ringing (we all know those days), the last thing we think we have time for, especially at while we’re at work, is yoga. But here is 5 reasons why even just 5 quick minutes of yoga while at work is just what you need.
1. Reduce Stress – Yoga, even just five minutes (yes, really!) has the power to reduce stress. When you’re less stressed at work you are more likely to approach your tasks with a clearer mind, more focus and actually get the job completed more effectively and efficiently.
2. Boost Your Immunity – Yoga has the amazing ability to activate your immune system, stimulate blood flow and get your lymphatic system moving. It may seem like 5 minutes during a busy day is a lot to lose but in the name of health it is worth it.
3. Increase Energy – when the mid-day slump comes and all you can think about is a nap, doing 5 minutes of yoga and some stretching will greatly increase your energy so you can power through the rest of your day. And you won’t even need to grab for that candy bar.
4. Increase Productivity – Performing 5 minutes of yoga, even just at your desk, is going to calm your mind right down. Often times when the to-do list is a mile long and more and more things are getting added by the minute we can feel scattered and it can become quite hard to focus. When we practice yoga our mind gets quieter and we can go back to work with a renewed sense of focus and an increase in productivity.
5. Feel Good – Yoga has such an amazing ability to leave you feeling good. And we’re not talking about that short-lived candy bar high that leaves you crashing 10 minutes later. Yoga leaves you feeling centered, focused, refreshed, healthy and overall just more positive (have you ever heard someone say they felt more negative after yoga?…yeah, didn’t think so).
While it may seem like 5 minutes is too much to ask, it is actually going to give you time back. That’s right, just 5 minutes of yoga at work is going to add time to your day with all the benefits it offers. Yoga is kind of like magic in that way!
