Sometimes it feels like a full time job staying upbeat and positive! You know the days, the ones where it took 23 full minutes for the kids to put their boots on, your briefcase tipped over on the subway and there were papers everywhere. Perhaps it’s just one of those days and it’s nothing specific. Next thing you know, you’re walking into your office in a less than pleasant mood and the day has only just begun.
Here’s 5 ways to get ahead of those negative thoughts and less than pleasant moods so that you have a great day at the office.
- Turn up the tunes! Pop in your earbuds on your subway commute and listen to your favorite song! Don’t be afraid to belt out a few bars.
- Move! Throw your runners in your work bag and get out for a brisk walk on your lunch break. Nothing beats fresh air.
- Fuel yourself! Plan your meals the night before, bring healthy food to snack on throughout the day and don’t forget to hydrate.
- Make plans! Schedule a date with a colleague or friend so that you have something to look forward to during the day.
- Easy does it! Give yourself a break. Moods and thoughts, they don’t define you. Take a deep breath and keep on going! You’re doing great!
