Take care of yourself over the next few months, to ensure you get enough exercise and ‘outdoor’ time. Even when it is cold and blustery out, getting into a regular habit of breathing fresh air can wake you up and brighten your mood. Smoking may not be a wise decision for your health – but, the habit of moving away from your desk regularly, to go outside for a break, is a great habit. So – I propose a challenge: to go outside for a Breath of Joy whenever you can. Ask your Yoga instructor to show you how it’s done. Or look at some of these great resources.

This is actually a brilliant idea. I wonder if teaching smokers to go outside for a “breath of joy” rather than a cigarette might help wean them off their habit? I know similar behavioural switches work, such as giving them fake cigarettes to chew on or “inhale” throughout the day. Sort of a placebo effect, you know?
